Calgary Family & Community Support Services

IRM Research and Evaluation Inc. working with FCSS Calgary, participated in a collaborative process with FCSS funded agencies to develop a set of indicators that would honour the distinctiveness of Indigenous service provision.

The Indicators project, in alignment with FCSS 2009 and 2014 Indigenous research brief, explored five areas: Indigenous Identity, Social Inclusion, Traditional Parenting, Trauma/Healing, and Ceremony. This project was the initial creation and development of the Indigenous Program Indicators. Since then, our team has further researched Indigenous Program Indicators and we have adapted these initial indicators to now reflect the teachings of miyo pimâtisiwin and the four realms (Mental, Emotional, Spiritual, and Physical) based on the teachings we received from Elders while engaged in wisdom-seeking.
