Amanda Torres

BSW, RSW

Amanda Torres is a new Mom to Ruby, a very determined little one who continues to show Amanda the strength of her spirit.

Amanda was grateful to learn from Elder Dr. Leona Makokis, Kristina Kopp and Dr. Ralph Bodor during her BSW, learning that continues to help her navigate and advocate for change within the systems that impact families she has worked alongside over the past ten years. Amanda believes it is of vital importance for service providers, like herself, to be aware of Indigenous ways of knowing and being and to approach their work with humility and a commitment to growth. Amanda spent much of her life in Treaty 8 territory before settling in Edmonton where she now calls Treaty 6 territory home.
